Bloating is the state in which your stomach is swollen caused by retention of fluids or gas. As a woman, this state is very common, you feel uncomfortable and irritated. YOU ARE NOT ALONE. This happens to me all the time, I have learned to listen to my body, I pay attention to how I feel when I eat certain foods. For example, if I take multi-vitamins during the day I tend to get bloated very quickly, if I don’t properly eat at the time that my body is accustom to then I would get bloated. Small things like that can cause your body to feel and get bloated.
Now, it is very important if you feel constant bloating and additional pain to consult with a doctor.
What are the most common causes of bloating?
The most common causes of bloating is having a lot of gas in your guts. This could be caused by some vegetables such as broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, among others, frizzy drinks, and/or by swallowing air when you are eating. Some people may also feel bloating before and/or around their period time.
Other causes of bloating includes problem with your digestion.
- coeliac disease
- irritable bowel system (IBS)
- food intolerance
- constipation
If bloating does not go away please consult with your doctor.
What helps with bloating?
Drink plenty of water.
Exercise regularly; this helps with your digestion and therefore with bloating.
Eat food high in fibre.
Eat small meals but more frequent.
Eat with your mouth closed to prevent air coming in.
Practice mindful eating.
Avoid process food.

Chewing gum
Sucking on hard candy
Drinking excessively carbonated drinks
Not drinking enough water
Easting fast
This habits cause your stomach to get fill with air. It is essential that you take your time when eating, and avoid this bad habits. Drinking plenty of water and have a balance diet high in fibre. Listen to your body, pay attention to how certain food makes you feel, and understand that there is a way to minimize bloating and the feeling of uncomfortable.
